Fashion Astrology
Had to share this post from Ashleigh over at Little Girl, Big World. If you love astrology- like I do- then head over and read your fashion horoscope.
Here is what mine has to say about me:
Libra: Strong fashion instincts here. Librans are aware of the latest trends and know how to use them in a way that is tasteful and stylish without screaming 'I'm wearing the latest.' Very tasteful with jewelry, knows how to accent almost anything.
Not sure how true it is but I’d like to think I try.

Faux Bob
Tried out the whole faux bob craze this weekend and I looooved it! It took me a minute or two for me to get it right and when I say minute I really mean hour but it is definitely a hairstyle worth repeating- plus now that I have done it once I don’t think it will take me as long the next go around.
Still no camera (any suggestions on a good point-and shoot? I’m not fancy enough to splurge on a proper DSLR) but I did manage to take a quick shot with my phone. Nothing fancy.
Until next time.

Cleaning things Up
What is eating clean you may ask? In a nutshell, eating clean is the practice of eating whole, natural foods, such as fruits, vegetable, lean proteins, and complex carbohydrates. Simply put, I stay away from all fast food joints, man-made sugars, white bread, bad fats, and preservatives, or in other words any foods that are heavily processed.
I’m not doing this to lose weight, although that is a benefit for most people, but to feel better. Before, my diet probably consisted of 90% sugar, and that is not a joke, and I really only ate one “true” meal a day. It was not healthy. A typical day of eating before going clean consisted of hot chocolate in the morning when I got to work, then we have this wonderful bowl of delicious candy at work that I constantly visited through the day to keep me going, then on our way home from work the hubs and I would hit up some fast food place for dinner. Not good.
But now- this is what a typical food day looks like:
Breakfast- oat meal with oat bran, almond milk, whey protein powder, flaxseed, and some variation of berries or if time is short I go with a fruit protein smoothie that I can take on the go.
Mid-Morning Snack- some type of fruit with a small handful of nuts
Lunch- usually this consists of left-overs from dinner, which is some type of meat like chicken, pork, flank steak, fish, or turkey with brown rice and veggies.
Snack- boiled eggs, with some type of veggie.
Dinner- lean cuts of meat, brown rice, veggies.
You get the idea.
If you are interested in eating clean then I would definitely recommend reading one of the Eat Clean Diet books, the one I read was The Eat-Clean Diet Stripped. It really lays everything out for you. Everything from recipes to a whole 2 week eating plan.
I am not going to lie to you- the first week was HARD! First, I am sure I was going through sugar withdrawals, I had the worst headaches and was moody as hell, and on top of that- eating well is a lot of work, you or at least I felt like I was always either preparing a meal, eating, or cleaning up from eating. It’s also more expensive to eat right and you have to go grocery shopping more often- which if your anything like me sounds like the most awful thing ever. BUT with all that said it really is worth it and it does get easier. And, you really can adjust things to make them work for you and your life.
So to sum things up a person that eats clean generally practices the following:
- Eliminates refined sugar
- Eliminates preservatives and processed foods
- Cooks healthy meals
- Packs healthy meals/snacks
- Makes healthy choices when eating out
- Drinks lots of water
- Eats 5-6 small meals per day
- Eliminates alcoholic beverages (or significantly limits it)
- And ALWAYS eats breakfast

If you decide to go clean the biggest tip I can give you is to always plan your meals. The moment you don’t have a plan in place for what you are going to eat that day- it makes it really difficult to stick to it. The first thing I did after reading the Eat-Cleat Diet book was I went out and bought tons of Tupperware and a lunch cooler and every night before bed I packed mine and my husbands food for the next day while we are away from home- that way there is no excuses. I gotta say I am pretty dang proud of the hubs and I for doing this and sticking to it- we have had our bad days and we have our weaknesses- mine is ice cream- but for the most part we are doing it and it’s been good. I have to thank Katy over at Think Pretty Thoughts for her blog and being so inspirational and passionate about being healthy and blogging about eating clean and fitness- with the added bonus of an outfit post every so often.
Now if only I can conquer that whole dreaded working out business…

Under the Weather
And I have no one to blame but myself. That is what I get from eating spit ridden cheerios from my ill 2 year old nephew’s fingers this weekend- but in all honesty can you deny this face when he is being so nice to share his cheerios with you?
Didn’t think so.

Fashion Tales
There are some fun things going on at work. We are going to be launching a new product soon and to build excitement for this release we decided to create some really fun marketing videos. With the help of Kineto Pictures (whom are very talented by the way) they put together a really fun video series for us. It was really cool being on the set for the filming of this then seeing it all put together.
Check it out…
This is the first video of 4. You can watch for the series at http://www.michefashiontales.com/ and of course I am sure I will be posting them here.

My Anthropologie Story
Am sure everyone has one of these. So let’s just jump right into it shall we. For starters I can count on one hand how many times I have ventured into an Anthropologie store- and really, I don’t even need a whole hand. Not that it’s not my cup of tea or anything- I’m just not ballin’ like that to actually purchase anything from that place so why torture my self right?
Well a few weeks back I was out shopping with my mom and we just happened to stroll into an Anthropologie. While we were just looking around for fun I stumbled onto a pair of really comfy looking 70’s inspired trouser jeans that I just had to try on- for fun.
Try them. Love them. Peek at price tag….
Say what?!?!? Tag reads $58!?!? No way! NO WAY! Really? My lucky day! Off to the register….
Chit-chatting away with my mom- don’t see/hear pay attention to the total. Swipe card. On my way I go feeling pretty dang proud of my first ever Anthropologie purchase. Yay! Go me!
Ha ha ha… get ready to laugh at silly ol’ me.
Riding shotgun home from our shopping adventures as I am looking over my receipt… I want to die… like I am seriously about to jump out of a moving car…
I don’t spend money easily….
The receipt for my jeans read $188!!! – you can imagine my confusion aka freak out. As I am trying to make sense of all this I realize that it was the belt on the jeans was what was $58!!! A belt for $58 are you freaking kidding me? I thought the belt came with the jeans… again silly me… the price of the jeans was tucked away in a pocket…
Should’ve known better. It all goes back to, “if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is.”
Long story short- I returned the jeans- just couldn’t stomach it.
That was a few weeks ago… I still think about those jeans. Especially since I am not feeling inspired by anything I currently own in my wardrobe.
I even went to antropologie.com to buy them back but they were gone. Very sad.
This post was going to be titled “The Jeans that Got Away”, and as I was scouring the internet for a picture of these notorious jeans… with no such luck. I realized I still had the receipt from the initial purchase that listed what the jeans were called… I typed it in and this is what came up…

My jeans!!! On sale for $29.95!!!! But just to be safe I gathered others around just to make sure what I was seeing was indeed for real. I wasn’t going to be made a fool twice. They all agreed- these were in fact $29.95.
I don’t think I have ever pulled out my credit card so fast.
Don’t you love happy endings?
xoxo,
