FBFF: Trends

I saw this "Fashion Beauty Friendly Friday" link up that my friend Bre over at 27b(re) took part in that is hosted by Modly Chic and thought, "oooh I want to do that too!"

So I did. Here it goes:

1. What spring trends have peaked your interest? I love that the color blocking trend has stuck around, I love color and can't wait to play with it some more. I also am really interested in playing around with mixing patterns- I love the challenge of it! Speaking of color blocking and mixing patterns have you seen JC Penney's Spring 2012 lookbook? Go JCP!

2. How do you incorporate new trends into your wardrobe? I try to be picky with the trends I want to follow, if is something that I feel will be in and out really quickly I will try to incorporate the trend through accessories.  For trends like pattern mixing and color blocking I feel good about purchasing these type of wardrobe items because as stand alone pieces i can wear them again and again and when I want to be part of the trend I can mix the pieces together to achieve the desired effect.
3. What trend are you seeing and not loving? Chunky block style heels. Bleh. Sorry if anyone reading this is all for it. I just cringe when I see them. They are not flattering on anyone.

4 Do you feel the pressure to constantly update your closet with the latest trends? Because I work in the fashion industry I definitely feel pressure to dress a certain way.  Not only to be on trend but to also be ahead of the trends and be a bit more creative with how I present myself.  This is actually why I started my blog- with the hopes that it would encourage and motivate me to make a better effort in the clothing I choose to represent myself each and every day.
5. Where do you find inspiration for making trends accessible to you and your personal taste? Obviously the fashion blogging community is a huge inspiration- hence why it has become so popular. It is very relatable for people.  Then there is Pinterest... gotta love that.  I also love fashion magazines and going out to the malls to see how the retailers are merchandising their stores. Online lookbooks, like the ones Ruche puts out is always huge inspiration for me. People watching is also very high on my list as a favorite past-time.

I just flipped through JCP's lookbook and thought wow JC you have really stepped up your game, I may need to visit. And then look I see it on your blog. This means I must go, it's fate. I have my hear set on that green skirt.
I totally agree with looking at the way stores merchandise and the window shopping. It's great for inspiration!
