Special Monday

On this Special Monday we are going old school.  Literally- like back to the 4th grade. 

One lazy day after school while kicking back and partaking in my daily after school ritual of watching Full House I went into the kitchen to prepare a snack.  After opening the cupboards, pantry, and fridge a dozen times looking for something to snack on I finally was able to scrounge up some peanut butter and celery.

Like most kids should- don't know if they actually do, but I did- loved to eat celery with peanut butter. Well I guess back then it was probably more peanut butter then celery.

However, after closer inspection I thought my celery looked a bit different then I remembered it being, this celery was a lot more skinnier and flimsy, but hey what did I know? I only ever ate peanut butter drenched celery sticks once a year on Thanksgiving.

So here I am carefully trying to spread my peanut butter on my "celery".  After what seemed like forever I finally finished preparing my snack and I felt pretty pleased with myself.

Off I head back to my spot in front of the TV with my after school snack and large glass of milk in tow. . .

Then the unthinkable happened.  I bite into my specially crafted snack and froze.

THIS IS NOT CELERY!!!

So yep, long story short, I made myself peanut butter covered scallions aka green onions.

Not the ideal snack for a 10 year old.

but of course

I would find a way to break my tri-pod.  Oh well, c'est la vie. Good thing I'm a good problem solver; see: duct tape.

I am not much for words today- but hey aren't you here for the pictures anyway? It's been decided.

We are heading to Spain in May!

After weeks, months, and even years of going back and forth in long debates with the hubs on where our next big trip would be we have finally came to an agreement.

I wanted Thailand, Turkey, Egypt, or anywhere else in Africa.
And the husband wanted Scotland or Paris.
Big differences there.
We both lost.
And we can't afford Italy.

So Spain it is and we both couldn't be more excited!

Momentum Day 3

On the last day of conference we donated $750,000 to The Huntsman Cancer Institute, launched our new Hope shells, you can read about our Hope program here- if you are interested in learning more of what that is about.

And we ended the night at our gala dinner where we awarded many people and danced the night away.

Our next conference is only 5 months away and we are heading to Nashville. I am in full planning mode which means I have many more sleepless nights ahead of me as I plan our next huge fashion show and Design Studio. But I am not going to lie I LOVE EVERY MOMENT OF IT!

Momentum Day 2

On Day 2 the design team got to have our "Oprah" moment as we like to call it where we got be up on stage and have our bio's read, here is what my boss had to say about me:

"Surrounded by fabric swatches, fashion magazines, and racks of handbags, Ashley, our Design Manager, has an eye for aesthetics- as she should with her Interior Design Degree from the Los Angeles Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.  Ashley's creative instincts and flair for drama not only lends itself to pulling off great bags and great events but also allowed her pull off faking her own wedding"

Totally true by the way.

We also got to answer some most commonly asked questions, such as, "Where do you get your inspiration?" and "How do you know whats going to be in style?".  We also got to have a little fun and talk about what it's like working with our factories in China- hence the lost in translation photo.  The most fun we had though was with our fashion faux pas segment where we showed some horrendous outfits and gave tips on how a handbag may just turn that outfit from a faux pas to a fashion forward statement.

We then of course spent any free time we had when were weren't busy entertaining in our Design Studio or up onstage, to be silly and take advantage of all the fun photo ops around the conference center.

Special Monday

Showing co-workers pictures off of your camera when you accidentally flip through too many and WHOA hey there! There you are in your sports bar and spandex bottoms in one of those awkward "before" I got fit pictures.

Classic. 

Momentum Day 1

As mentioned here, here and you can also read about it here on a blog post that will be up later this afternoon (which is another blog that I write for my company under my boss's name).

But if you're not in the mood to click on a bunch of links. . . my company holds a giant conference once a year for all of our Representatives worldwide.  They come to this event to network, get training, get loads of company information, lots of free stuff but most importantly it is a time for the Design team to do a little showing off- which we gladly do.

We kicked off the event with our fashion show- which over the last couple of months made me loose a lot of sleep stressing over but in the end it was all worth it.  We had a live band, dancers, and amazing models. I guarantee there is not a fashion show in the world that has people on their feet shouting and dancing with as much excitement and for as long as our fashion show does.  It was truly an event not to be missed.

My Greatest Hits does these ABC's of Style link-ups and today she is on the letter "W"! Yes, I know I am a bit late getting on board with the ABC's but Hey! Better late then never, I say.

W is for Wide leg pants! And I just happened to have some outfit photos from earlier this year- I mean from last year, still getting getting use to it being 2012- that I never got around to posting with me wearing . . . yep you got it wide leg pants :)

I adore these pants, I really do. And I don't even care that they are not the most flattering on me or that my husband hates them or that my sisters won't be seen in public with me when I wear them.  I love them despite all that.  You can read our love story here, the pants and I.  You can also see me wearing them here.

Oh and those fun black boxes with the big white exclamation marks in them that you see on my blog and if you look at any posts that are earlier then September... yeah well I keep waiting in vain that my photos will amazingly reappear but it's not happening.  Debating if I go back and rebuild  those posts or if I just delete them all and say screw it.

What am I going to wear?

Special Monday

This picture from high school is definitely all kinds of special. Sixteen and just got my license. Thanks mom for letting me dress like a street walker. I remember it being over 100 degrees this day- if my memory serves me right, my car even overheated and I had to walk 6 blocks down State Street to get to the nearest gas station- so I guess the outfit was suitable after all. Don't worry I wasn't alone my best friend or as the kids like to say now-a-days my P.I.C was with me and she also looked as equally as scandalous as I.

A little taste

This was my "day" outfit for day 3 of our Annual Conference.  When I saw the back of this blouse I just knew it had to be mine.  I didn't even bother looking at the designer price tag- and that is BIG for my frugal self.

Special Monday

Do you ever go into a public bathroom stall and think you lock the door behind you but just as you are getting yourself settled on the, uh, you know... the loo I guess we will call it, the door slowly creeps open and it is just barley that far away that it is out of reach so then you just have hurry and finish your business and pray to the Gods that no one comes in...?

Does that happen to anyone else? Or just me? Do I even dare admit that this has happened on more then one occasion... ?

Giddy

Every year for work we put on a huge 3-day event for all or our representatives around the world and part of that is a fashion show that I am responsible for.  This years event is this weekend and I am giddy with excitement! I love the craziness that the next 3 days will entail! This past spring I posted a video from the spring/summer segment of the fashion show we did last year, you can see it here and I promised then that I would post the fall/winter segment, which I never did, so here it is now:

This year we have a live band and dancers mixed into the the fashion show, I am both excited and nervous as hell as how this is going to turn out. Wish me luck!
