Special Monday

Sometimes the level of my "specialness" surprises me.  Take for example me and the dryer- we are often at odds with each other . This one particular time which occurred recently.  The dryer did not want to start for me, I of course after repeatedly pushing the start button with no avail and whining like a little girl that our dryer is broken and how we don't need this right now and blah blah blah- you know like girls do- I call for my husband to come fix it.

My sweet husband walks over to me and stares at me down our long hallway and says, "Are you serious? How about try shutting the dryer door." and walks away.

Hmmm. How about that.  The dryer door was wide open with me standing between it.

Yep. Just one of many examples of my kind of "specialness".

FBFF: Trends

I saw this "Fashion Beauty Friendly Friday" link up that my friend Bre over at 27b(re) took part in that is hosted by Modly Chic and thought, "oooh I want to do that too!"

So I did. Here it goes:

1. What spring trends have peaked your interest? I love that the color blocking trend has stuck around, I love color and can't wait to play with it some more. I also am really interested in playing around with mixing patterns- I love the challenge of it! Speaking of color blocking and mixing patterns have you seen JC Penney's Spring 2012 lookbook? Go JCP!

2. How do you incorporate new trends into your wardrobe? I try to be picky with the trends I want to follow, if is something that I feel will be in and out really quickly I will try to incorporate the trend through accessories.  For trends like pattern mixing and color blocking I feel good about purchasing these type of wardrobe items because as stand alone pieces i can wear them again and again and when I want to be part of the trend I can mix the pieces together to achieve the desired effect.
3. What trend are you seeing and not loving? Chunky block style heels. Bleh. Sorry if anyone reading this is all for it. I just cringe when I see them. They are not flattering on anyone.

4 Do you feel the pressure to constantly update your closet with the latest trends? Because I work in the fashion industry I definitely feel pressure to dress a certain way.  Not only to be on trend but to also be ahead of the trends and be a bit more creative with how I present myself.  This is actually why I started my blog- with the hopes that it would encourage and motivate me to make a better effort in the clothing I choose to represent myself each and every day.
5. Where do you find inspiration for making trends accessible to you and your personal taste? Obviously the fashion blogging community is a huge inspiration- hence why it has become so popular. It is very relatable for people.  Then there is Pinterest... gotta love that.  I also love fashion magazines and going out to the malls to see how the retailers are merchandising their stores. Online lookbooks, like the ones Ruche puts out is always huge inspiration for me. People watching is also very high on my list as a favorite past-time.

3 months later

Back in October my team and I went to L.A. Fashion Week, and for lack of other content to post, here are some snapshots from the Project Ethos Fashion Show we went to.

Loved the picket sign idea, I may just have to steal it for our next fashion show.

The band that opened for Project Etho's was the Black Cards, pretty cool stuff.  To end this post I shall leave you with my favorite Black Cards song.

Have a great weekend!

outtakes

Fun outtakes from a little work photo op for an upcoming event . . .

these next few are my personal favorites . . .

and then there was the awkward family style team photo with "cardboard" Jennie . . .

and I of course feel the need to make things a bit more entertaining . . .

"cardboard" Jennie wasn't cuttin' it- so we had to go grab the real thing . . .

the end.

and you doubted me

Tada! Lazy cold me got around to taking some photos. And look- in no other place but then in "the powder room" aka restroom.  How fitting.

lazy cold me

Should really take an outfit pic today- cause you know I am wearing my dream pants that don't look anything like a dream on me and my furry vest that I just can't get enough of. Buuuut it's cold outside and inside photos are just kinda lame- bad lighting and all.  But who knows maybe I will suck it up and go outside.

But just incase that doesn't happen and c'mon who are we kidding- chances are it won't. I will leave you with this fun little video that has been floating around...

On a totally unrelated note- like anything in this post was "related" anyways . . .

Tuna fish has to be the most absolutely awful piece of food to get stuck in your braces.  Just sayin'. It's the kind the provokes dry heaves.

Later.

I got problems.

I have this problem where I follow blogs of people that I really can't stand.  I don't know why I do this but I am compelled to read everyone of their posts just so see how much more annoying they can get.

Yes. I know. I have issues.  And yes one or two of those blogs just may be under my blog list. I'll leave it to you to guess which ones they are.

insignificant vs significant

This pretty much sums up my feelings lately. But then I started thinking... deep thoughts. Yep, I went there. And I started thinking that if this is my first thought in the morning while I am selecting my clothes for the day then I am basically dooming my day as being insignificant before it even has a chance to be anything else.  So going forward I am not going to worry about wasting a good outfit on an insignificant day because if nothing else in my day ends up being significant at least my outfit will be.

only time will tell

Husband says that although this outfit may be trending now... later it will be one of those outfits that I look back on and will be embarrassed about. Kinda like how we cringe whenever we see pictures of ourselves from Jr. High. You know what I'm talking about.

Figured I better document it. Naturally.

On a different note.... I miss live writer. Badly. Blogger makes my picture sizing  lame.

A Letter

Dear Windows Live Writer,

I miss you. I don't think I would have ever upgraded to a Mac if I knew I couldn't have you.  Being one of the "cool" kids is overrated- Macs are overrated (don't tell it I said that).

In short- composing in blogger really really bites.

xoxox,
Ash

P.S. Apple puuuuleeeeassse come out with a (ahem) FREE blog writing tool that is as cool and as easy to use as Windows Live Writer. I beg you

shoulda, woulda, coulda

I want to kick myself for not taking any NYE photos.  The only evidence I have of my outfit is from the dressing room in which I first tried on this little number.

Oh regrets.
